Over 70 people attended the information evening discussion on gas shale hosted by the Friends of the Earth on February 24 at the Hall of Acacias at Crest. They were able to attend the presentation Pierre Batellier committee member "Mobilization Gas Shale Saint-Marc-sur-Richelieu" and the executive committee of citizens inter Quebec on this issue. Nearly a year after being confronted for the first time in shale gas in his village on the outskirts of Montreal, Pierre was able to introduce the teaching and learning of one year of civic engagement in the beautiful province. After a presentation of the drilling techniques used as hydraulic fracturing, Pierre detailed all the environmental risks and socio-economic enormous that they are incurring to people (water pollution, air, security issues, health), which led to the creation of many citizens opposed to these collective projects across the province. These are indeed many questions posed by this type of operation, and the responses of firms or the government are still desperately waiting ...
What has also been testifying Michele Rivasi Green MEP which could illuminate the testimony of Peter in the French and European context. This has enabled us to share his meeting with Minister Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet on the subject last January, which seemed to discover this issue as he left his former minister, Jean-Louis Borloo, and launched a mission of information whose results will be known in May. Michele Rivas has also been witness to the European dynamic at work, including Poland, which wants to develop the exploitation of shale gas at any price to free itself from its dependence on Russian energy. At a more local level, John Serret, general counsel of the Canton of Crest-Nord, could also specify the actions by the department on this issue, as the partnership with the Departments of Ardeche, the Herault and Gard to pool their resources on this issue.
The evening then continued with a discussion and a set of questions and answers very successful among all participants, where desire to take action now was quite noticeable. This debate has also resulted in the creation of a collective of the DrĂ´me valley cons shale gas, the first constituent meeting will be held next Monday, March 7 at 8:30 p.m. at the stop public and which can already be contacted at the following address: @ gmail.com gazdeschiste.valleedeladrome . The first night should lead to new actions and mobilizations after the national meeting of local public last Saturday that allowed it to acquire equipment mobilization, as well as the manifestation of Villeneuve de Berg for a carpool that had been organized and has met with great success!
